Terminology
While much of the contents of the Dictionarium Musica is based of off Grassineau's Musical Dictionary, the section of the text pertaining to the flute - mainly pages 34, 38, and 39 - contains some slight differences. The most significant difference is that the section for "German Flute" is no longer contained within the definition for "Flute" (page 34) as it was in the Grassineau. Rather, it was moved to be an entirely different entry on page 38. Beyond that, the language remains relatively consistent showing that, between 1740, when Grassineau's Musical Dictionary was published, and 1770, when Hoyle's Dictionarium Musicum, terminology remained extremely consistent.
